Role Overview:
The HR Director is a strategic partner to the executive team and is responsible for leading the Human Resources function for a company with over 200 employees. This role involves developing and executing HR strategies that align with the company’s business goals, fostering a positive organizational culture, ensuring compliance with labour laws, and managing the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function.
Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on all HR-related matters, providing insights on the impact of business decisions on people.
- Drive organizational change and development initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, and employee engagement.
Talent Acquisition and Management
- Oversee the recruitment process to ensure the company attracts and hires the best talent.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive talent management strategy, including succession planning, career development, and leadership development programs.
- Ensure effective onboarding and offboarding processes.
Employee Relations and Culture
- Foster a positive work environment and company culture that aligns with the company’s values and promotes employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Handle complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and investigations, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to create a more inclusive workplace.
Compensation and Benefits
- Design, implement, and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain talent.
- Regularly review compensation structures and benefit plans to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Oversee payroll administration, benefits, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Performance Management
- Develop and manage the performance management system, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
- Guide managers on effective performance management practices and employee development.
- Monitor and analyse performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure the company’s HR policies, practices, and procedures comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR trends, legal changes, and best practices.
- Oversee health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
HR Metrics and Reporting
- Develop and maintain HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports on HR activities, trends, and issues for the executive team.
- Use data-driven insights to make recommendations for improving HR practices.
HR Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to HR staff.
- Ensure the HR team delivers high-quality service to all employees.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
Experience
- Valid HR experience, with at least five years in a leadership role.
- Experience in a company with 250+ employees is required.
- Proven track record in developing and executing HR strategies that drive business results.
